Moss does not seem
to cause significant damage to structures such as sidewalks, steps,
retaining walls, or sides of buildings.
Mosses on sidewalks may be slippery when wet, creating a hazard
for pedestrians. In that case, removal may be necessary. Otherwise,
the decision whether to remove mosses is based primarily on aesthetic
considerations.
